If you do a search for the term foruncular or furuncular we find that it is associated with acne of a specific type. The correct word is actually furuncular which is derived from the word furuncle. Furuncle is a painful nodule in the skin caused by bacteria known as staphylococcus. Furuncles are common, they are also known as hair follicle infections. Accutane - is prescribed for moderate to severe acne that has failed treatment with antibiotics. It is a naturally occurring Vitamin A derivative, but it has serious side effects. It is critical for women not to take Accutane while pregnant and not to become pregnant while taking it. It is also thought to worsen depression and suicidal thoughts Accutane "cures" about 80% of those who take it so that they never have to take anything else for acne.

The bacteria that cause furuncular acne are becoming resistant to treatment with certain antibiotics. Different types of antibiotics or stronger ones are needed to kill acne-causing bacteria once they become resistant to existing antibiotics. This is also a problem if you need the antibiotics for life threatening infections when you have taken the antibiotics for a chronic skin problem such as acne.
